VISIBLE CRAFT
long-take immersion
Films where the extended, unbroken (or apparently unbroken) shot functions as the PRIMARY formal vocabulary of the entire work — not a celebrated set-piece within a conventionally edited film, but the sustained take as the dominant cinematic language through which duration, immersion, and meaning are generated. Distinguished from 'meditative-calm' and 'slow-sensual' (which are pace/mood registers where long takes may incidentally appear) by requiring the shot duration itself to be a foregrounded formal strategy; distinguished from 'static-framing' (which emphasizes camera stasis) by permitting — even celebrating — long takes that move through space.
