“Time is the enemy.”

Lance Corporal Schofield (George MacKay) and Lance Corporal Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman) are sent across no man's land to stop an attack before thousands die. Blake volunteered for the mission; Schofield must keep him alive long enough to deliver the message. Mendes shoots the journey as one continuous take, the two men moving through trenches and craters with the war closing in, until what began as duty becomes loyalty between them.
