Films propelled by relentless, sustained forward momentum — where pace itself becomes a physical force the audience feels in the body, generated through chase, pursuit, competition, or escalating stakes that never allow the film to breathe or the viewer to settle. The register is about energy as a total cinematic condition: editing, sound design, performance, and camera all locked into a single drive toward the next moment. Distinct from slow-burn (which is also tension-driven but operates through patient, measured accumulation and withheld release) by requiring that urgency be constant and immediate rather than incrementally built; distinct from meandering-drift (which is defined by wandering pace and absence of destination) by being entirely organized around forward propulsion and the pressure of time running out.
