CIA agent Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne) uncovers a plot by Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon), a powerful mutant bent on nuclear war. She recruits Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), a young telepath, and Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender), a man hunting Shaw for revenge, to stop him. As they gather other mutants and train for battle, Charles and Erik find themselves standing alone on opposite sides of the beach, the ocean between them.
