Andrew Neiman (Miles Teller) is a talented drummer at an elite conservatory who wants to become one of the jazz greats. His path leads him to Terence Fletcher (J.K. Simmons), a bandleader whose rehearsals feel like interrogations, where mistakes earn public humiliation and flying chairs. What begins as Andrew's hunger to prove himself hardens into obsession, a need to earn Fletcher's approval that may already be destroying him.
