Two American women, Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johansson), arrive in Barcelona for the summer and meet Juan Antonio Gonzalo (Javier Bardem), a painter who invites them both into his life. He remains tangled with his ex-wife María Elena (Penélope Cruz), and as the summer deepens, the four of them orbit each other in a fever. By autumn, Vicky stands alone on a Barcelona street corner.
