Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) moves to the rainy town of Forks, Washington, where the new student at her high school is Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), beautiful and distant and impossibly fast. He is a vampire, and the pull between them is immediate and dangerous. Hardwicke frames their longing in close-ups and cold light, and what emerges is the oldest story: the person you want most is the one who could destroy you.
