Los Angeles, 1988. A drifter named John Nada (Roddy Piper) finds a pair of sunglasses that reveal the truth: billboards scream subliminal commands, and the well-dressed people running everything are aliens in disguise. He teams up with Frank Armitage (Keith David) to expose the invasion, but the creatures have already wired the world to their purpose. If Nada succeeds, the aliens lose their cover. If he fails, no one will ever know.
