An old man summons him to Japan to say goodbye, but he arrives to find a power struggle over the Yashida fortune, with Mariko (Tao Okamoto) caught in the middle. Mangold strips away the spectacle, leaving Logan in a sparse Tokyo apartment, watching the city lights blur through rain on the window.
