Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) is drunk in his dorm room when he pivots to code a website that lets students rate their classmates' attractiveness. The site crashes Harvard's servers within hours, and Fincher cuts between the creation of Facebook and two separate lawsuits years later, each tracing back to a betrayal. By the end, Zuckerberg sits alone in a small room, refreshing a friend request that will not be accepted.
