The Shallows

“What was once in the deep is now in the shallows.”

Nancy Adams (Blake Lively), a medical student, swims at a secluded beach in Mexico and finds herself caught between the shore and a great white shark. Stranded on a shallow reef 200 yards out, she must ration her strength and her air while the sun moves across the sky. Collet-Serra traps the camera with her on the rocks, the horizon line holding steady as the water darkens and time compresses into each breath.
