A young couple's car breaks down on a dark road and take shelter in a castle where a mad scientist in full makeup holds court. Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry) unveils his latest creation while Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) are swept into the spectacle. Jim Sharman stages the whole thing as if the screen were a stage, with the camera holding back to let the performers command.
