Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) is a clumsy, invisible high school girl until her grandmother, Queen Clarisse (Julie Andrews), reveals she is heir to a European throne. The Queen teaches her the rules of royalty, from posture to protocol. By the end, Mia chooses to claim her crown not because she has to, but because she wants to become who she really is.
