Young Simba (Matthew Broderick) is heir to the Pride Lands, but he wants to prove himself worthy of the throne before he inherits it. When his father dies in a stampede orchestrated by his uncle Scar (Jeremy Irons), Simba flees into exile, guilt-stricken and alone. Years later, he must choose between hiding from his past or facing it, learning that running from pain only delays the reckoning that comes to those who refuse to lead.
