Two women on opposite sides of the Atlantic, each nursing a recent heartbreak, swap homes for the Christmas holiday. Amanda (Cameron Diaz) takes a cottage in the English countryside, while Iris (Kate Winslet) settles into Amanda's California house. What neither expects is to find, in a stranger's town, the kind of company that makes staying away from home feel less like escape and more like arrival.
