The Great Dictator
“Once again - the whole world laughs!”
A Jewish barber (Charlie Chaplin) and a fascist dictator named Adenoid Hynkel (Charlie Chaplin) are physical twins in a world careening toward war. The barber hides in plain sight while Hynkel courts his fellow despot Benzino Napaloni (Jack Oakie) and tightens his grip on power. Chaplin's first sound film splits the difference between slapstick and fury, letting the two characters collide until words become the only weapon that matters.
