Robert McCall (Denzel Washington), a retired Marine and former DIA officer, has settled into a quiet life in Boston. When his friend Sam Rubinstein (Orson Bean) is murdered, McCall begins to trace the killing back through layers of deception and betrayal. Fuqua sends him across a rain-soaked city toward a man he once trusted, until McCall stands alone in an empty seaside house, rain streaming through broken windows.
