Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), a journalism graduate, lands a job at Runway magazine as assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the editor whose glare can stop traffic. Miranda's demands are baroque and constant: the right coffee, the impossible schedule, the casual cruelty disguised as taste. By the time Andy learns to anticipate her boss's every whim, she barely recognizes the person staring back from the mirror.
