The Departed

“Cops or criminals. When you’re facing a loaded gun, what’s the difference?”

Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio), a state police officer with a mob family in his blood, wants to prove himself clean. The brass send him undercover into Frank Costello's (Jack Nicholson) Irish crew in South Boston, but Costello has already placed Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) inside the department as a spy. Scorsese cuts between the two worlds with propulsive energy, the camera moving through bars and precincts like it can't stop.
