Taxi Driver

“On every street in every city in this country, there's a nobody who dreams of being somebody. He's a lonely forgotten man desperate to prove that he's alive.”

Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro), a cabbie prowling the graveyard shift through a rotting New York, can't sleep and can't connect with the world around him. At night he ferries criminals and addicts through streets he watches with mounting rage and confusion. The film tightens around him as his grip on things loosens, and the question becomes not what he will do but what others will have to live with when he does it.
