“Make every second count.”

Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes on a commuter train with eight minutes before it explodes. A voice in his ear, Colleen Goodwin (Vera Farmiga), tells him he is part of an experiment to identify the terrorist. Stevens has to live those eight minutes over and over, each time chasing a face or a clue, each time the bomb still detonates, trapping him in a loop where failure is the only certainty he knows.
