Shrek

(2001)Directed by Andrew Adamson, Vicky Jenson90 min · PGAnimation, Comedy, Fantasy, Adventure, Family
The greatest fairy tale never told.

An embittered ogre named Shrek (Mike Myers) finds his swamp invaded by fairy tale creatures banished there by Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow). Shrek agrees to retrieve a princess from a tower, hoping to reclaim his solitude, but Donkey (Eddie Murphy) won't leave his side. Adamson and Jenson animate the whole thing as a storybook come to life, every frame layered with detail and color, the characters' movements as elastic and unreal as thought.
