Romeo + Juliet

“My only love sprung from my only hate.”

Romeo (Leonardo DiCaprio) wants to forget a girl he thought he loved until he sees Juliet (Claire Danes) across a dance floor and everything rewrites itself. She is from the Montague family's sworn enemies, but neither of them cares, and they marry in secret the next day. Luhrmann stages the whole thing in neon and chaos, the camera moving so fast it seems to sweat, making the lovers' recklessness feel inevitable and doomed.
