Orphan

“There's something wrong with Esther.”

Kate and John (Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard) adopt Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman), a nine-year-old girl from an orphanage, after losing their unborn child. Within days, small cruelties unfold: a classmate hurt, lies told with unsettling calm, a wrongness in her that Kate cannot name. By the time Kate realizes Esther is dangerous, the girl has already woven herself into the family's life, standing alone in the dark.
