Roger Thornhill (Cary Grant) is an ordinary advertising man mistaken for a spy and yanked into a manhunt that spans the continent. Eve Kendall (Eva Marie Saint) appears to help him, then betrays him, then may be helping him again. Hitchcock propels him through crop-dusters and cliff faces, each escape tighter than the last, until Thornhill finds himself clinging to stone faces carved into a mountain.
