King Arthur (Graham Chapman) and his knights set out across medieval England in search of the Holy Grail, guided only by a mysterious voice. Each knight they meet is stranger than the last: a Black Knight (John Cleese) who fights with no limbs, peasants who insist they're not repressed, a bridge-keeper (Terry Gilliam) with riddles that make no sense. The film ends in a blur of anachronism and panic, a policeman's hand reaching toward the camera.
