Financial television host Lee Gates (George Clooney) is live on air when a furious investor, Kyle Budwell (Jack O'Connell), forces his way onto the set with a gun and a bomb. Producer Patty Fenn (Julia Roberts) watches from the control room as the broadcast becomes a hostage situation, live to millions. Foster pulls the tension tight as Kyle demands answers, and Lee has to keep him talking while the police close in.
