In 1920s Oklahoma, members of the Osage Nation begin dying under mysterious circumstances, each one wealthy from oil on their land. Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) marries into the tribe and finds himself drawn into a web of greed orchestrated by William Hale (Robert De Niro). Scorsese traces the conspiracy as investigator Tom White (Jesse Plemons) closes in, exposing how far Ernest will go to stay loyal to a man who sees him only as a tool.
