Frank Wolff (Dwayne Johnson), a riverboat skipper with tall tales and a worn smile, agrees to guide Dr. Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) and her brother upriver into uncharted jungle in search of the Tree of Life. They race a German expedition and dodge cursed conquistadors led by Lope de Aguirre (Edgar Ramírez), all hunting the same mythical prize. What Frank thought he'd left behind, belief, connection, hope, surfaces in the face of real danger.
