Invictus
“His people needed a leader. He gave them a champion.”
South Africa in 1995 is fragile, newly free but fractured along the lines that apartheid carved deep. Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) sees the rugby team, a sport beloved by whites and despised by blacks, about to host the World Cup, as a chance to hold the nation together. He persuades the team's captain, Francois Pienaar (Matt Damon), that winning could mean the difference between unity and fracture.
