Ed (John Cusack) is a limo driver nursing a quiet guilt after a highway accident kills a young girl. That same night, ten strangers find themselves stranded at a remote desert motel during a violent rainstorm, and someone begins killing them off one by one. Detective Rhodes (Ray Liotta) works the case alongside the survivors, trying to find the killer before the night ends. What binds these people together is the question that matters most.
