In 1986 New York, Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) is a Scottish swordsman who learns he is immortal, one of many bound by an ancient law: only one can survive. His mentor Ramirez (Sean Connery) trains him for a final duel with Victor Kruger (Clancy Brown), a merciless immortal. Russell Mulcahy stages the sword fights with kinetic momentum, cutting between flash-forwards and flashbacks so the whole film feels alive.
