Gigi Phillips (Ginnifer Goodwin) is a young woman who reads omens into every text message and cancelled date. Across Baltimore, eight other people navigate their own romantic entanglements, but Ken Kwapis keeps circling back to Gigi as she meets Alex (Justin Long), a man who speaks plainly about desire. By the film's end, Gigi sits alone at a bar, drink in hand, finally at ease with the difference between hope and delusion.
