Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin) is a studio fixer in 1950s Hollywood, the man who cleans up the messes that come with running an empire of beautiful illusions. When Baird Whitlock (George Clooney), the star of an expensive biblical picture, vanishes mid-production, Mannix has to find him before the studio loses everything. In Hollywood the machinery matters more than the truth.
