When the god Set (Gerard Butler) seizes the throne of Egypt, a mortal thief named Bek (Brenton Thwaites) strikes a bargain with the trapped god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) to help rescue his beloved. Together they descend into a mythic underworld where each obstacle grows more impossible than the last. Proyas builds each set piece as a cathedral of light and excess, painting the divine realm in golds and jewels that dwarf the human figures moving through them.
