Fences

“Some people build fences to keep people out, and other people build fences to keep people in.”

Troy Maxson (Denzel Washington) works as a garbage collector in 1950s Pittsburgh, building his life around rules for his wife Rose (Viola Davis) and his sons. He wants to be the kind of father who provides and protects, who passes down discipline like a foundation. But the fence he builds around his family, meant to hold them safe, becomes the thing that cracks under the weight of his own buried anger.
