Escape from New York

“1997. New York City is a walled, maximum security prison. Breaking out is impossible. Breaking in is insane.”

The U.S. President (Donald Pleasence) crashes into Manhattan, now a walled-off prison island, and only a hardened ex-soldier named Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) can retrieve him before dawn. Police Commissioner Hauk (Lee Van Cleef) gives Snake twenty-four hours and a ticking wire around his neck. Carpenter cranks the tension through a single night as the Duke of New York (Isaac Hayes) runs the island and the clock drains away.
