“There are no clean getaways.”

A Hollywood stunt driver (Ryan Gosling) takes jobs as a getaway driver at night, moving through the city in silence. He grows close to his neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan) and her young son. When her husband Standard (Oscar Isaac) is released from prison, the driver agrees to help with a heist, and everything that follows leaves him alone in his car, hands wrapped in bandages on the steering wheel, the city lights bleeding across the glass.
