Downsizing

“We are meant for something bigger.”

Paul Safranek (Matt Damon) signs up for a radical procedure that shrinks him to five inches tall, a chance to reinvent himself in a gleaming miniature community. His wife (Kristen Wiig) abandons him at the last moment, leaving him alone until he meets Ngoc Lan (Hong Chau), an impoverished activist with a different vision of what downsizing means. Payne shoots the scaled sets with the gloss of a consumer paradise while the loneliness accumulates quietly around it.
