Jon Martello, Jr. (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a Catholic Jersey guy with a rigid routine: church, gym, his family's dinner table, the club, and home alone with his laptop. He meets Barbara Sugarman (Scarlett Johansson), a sharp woman who wants him to change, and tries to build a relationship with her. Gordon-Levitt directs with a clean, modern eye, letting the gap between what Jon watches and what he actually feels become the whole story.
