Bethany (Linda Fiorentino), a lapsed Catholic in New Jersey, wants to find her place in the world when two fallen angels, Bartleby (Ben Affleck) and Loki (Matt Damon) arrive plotting to exploit a loophole in Catholic doctrine. She's joined by a muse (Salma Hayek Pinault) and a cynical demon hunter (Jason Lee) through a landscape where theology and profanity collide. Kevin Smith fills the film with digression and argument.
