John McClane (Bruce Willis) lands at Washington Dulles on Christmas Eve to pick up his wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia), but terrorists seize the airport and take control of the runways. He's the only cop on the ground who knows what's happening, caught between soldiers and a deposed general with nothing left to lose. By dawn, what matters most is whether he and Holly make it out together.
