Madeline Ashton Menville (Meryl Streep), a fading Broadway star, reconnects with Helen Sharp (Goldie Hawn), an old rival she once stole a husband from. The two women learn of a potion that halts aging forever and both drink it in pursuit of eternal beauty. What follows is a darkening descent into vanity and preservation, where the price of staying young becomes impossible to pay.
