Miguel, a young boy in Mexico, dreams of becoming a musician despite his family's generations-old ban on music. On the Day of the Dead, he stumbles into the land of the spirits and meets Héctor (Gael García Bernal), a charming skeleton with secrets of his own. Lee Unkrich builds the spirit world in jewel tones and skeleton orchestras, each frame layered with detail until the whole film shimmers.
