Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), a hotshot race car, gets stranded in a forgotten town on Route 66 while on his way to the biggest race of his career. He meets Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), a mysterious doctor who knows more about racing than he lets on, and Sally (Bonnie Hunt), who left the fast lane for a quieter life. As Lightning fixes the damage he caused, he discovers that winning isn't the only thing that matters.
