Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and his best friend Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) travel to Japan for the World Grand Prix, a high-octane racing competition. Mater gets mistaken for a spy and pulled into an international espionage plot alongside the suave British agent Finn McMissile (Michael Caine). Lasseter floods the screen with chrome and neon, sending the cars careening through exotic locations at breakneck speed.
