“Is it better to speak or die?”

A seventeen-year-old boy named Elio (Timothée Chalamet) spends the summer at his family's villa in northern Italy, where his father's graduate assistant Oliver (Armie Hammer) arrives. The two begin a careful dance of proximity and glances, testing boundaries through conversation and shared hours in the heat. Guadagnino shoots the Italian landscape as a warm, sensual space where desire unfolds in stolen glances and the smallest touch.
