“It's a strange world, isn't it?”

Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan) finds a severed ear in a field, a discovery that pulls him into the orbit of Dorothy Vallens (Isabella Rossellini), a nightclub singer held in the grip of the brutal Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper). What begins as curiosity becomes complicity as Jeffrey moves between suburban normalcy and a dark current underneath. By the time he understands what he has seen and done, the innocence that brought him to the ear is gone.
