Black Mass

“Keep your enemies close.”

James "Whitey" Bulger (Johnny Depp) runs the Irish mob in Boston while an FBI agent builds a case against him. John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) cuts a deal instead: Bulger becomes an informant, feeding the bureau intelligence in exchange for protection. Connolly's arrangement lets Bulger operate with impunity, and the mobster grows more violent and isolated, his grip on power absolute but his world collapsing inward.
