Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) wants out of his small South Carolina town, but then Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert) arrives at his school, strange and magnetic, with a uncle Macon Ravenwood (Jeremy Irons) who keeps her locked away. On her sixteenth birthday, Lena will be claimed by dark forces or light ones in a family curse that no one can stop. Ethan pulls toward her anyway, knowing it will cost them both.
